Come Hang Gliding from Boston, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Located in central Massachusetts 10 miles east of Quabbin reservoir.
Love the web site so far. More pictures of the new site please!
The Connecticut "crew" will be there!
It was great to see you all last Sunday, June 23. I have a few hundred hours in hang gliders but have only been flying sailplanes for the last few decades. I fly out of Sterling MA, about a 35 minute drive from Tanner-Hiller, with the Greater Boston Soaring Club (http://www.soargbsc.com). Please check out my soaring photo web site at http://home.comcast.net/~verhulst/soaring. Page 6 there has some shots of us (GBSC) winching sailplanes out of Tanner-Hiller and the following page has a few hang glider shots. Lastly, there's an in cockpit youtube video of a TH winch launch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH3CfZNn-gw&feature=plcp
see you soon,
I went to high school in New Braintree at the site where the Police Academy now resides. Used to be called "Pioneer Valley Academy". Ironically, I was the last to graduate. Ill be heading down to see the old place from the air.
Awsome way to fly! Great people, great place to both fly and hang out. Hang gliding is as close as to flying like an eagle as it gets. Feel the wind in your face, see the clouds above, check out the blue Quabbin Reservoir in the distance, smell the freshly cut fields below; truely hands on flying at its best! Catch a thermal and ride it it up to cloudbase and then let the cloud thermals carry you along. I flew in regular gliders at Tanner-Hiller 22 years ago, and find hang gliding is much more fun, much more interactive and more relaxing.
The crew at Tanner-Hiller is fantastic; the people there are genuine, not in a rush, They are safe and just fun people who care.
Went Hang Gliding yesterday (8/19/12) for the first time. Enjoyed it immensely. Louie could not have done a better job to make the experience any more enjoyable. The place does not look like much but don't let that fool you. It is a wonderful experience and I might even go back in the spring and try it again. Thanks again to both Rhett and Louie. You guys went over the top making the flight the best it could be.
Really enjoyed Rhet and Louis's place, nice hanger and best of all only 30 minutes from Worcester, I love that place and feel very safe with Rhet and Louie at the helm. Had a great 3800ft tow and a nice long open airfield for DZ. Great place and I hope they will be there forever.
